When Grief Escalates At Bedtime

Many people that are suffering from the loss of a loved one will be able to distract themselves during the daytime hours due to regular routines, work, and hectic schedules.

Nighttime can become a challenge for those struggling with the death of someone close to them.

When you settle in for the night, your mind has an opportunity to begin wandering, as you are no longer bombarded by the activities of the day.  Perhaps, you've put the children to bed, or the pets are resting for the evening, and the house becomes eerily quiet... your brain begins to taunt you about the emptiness in your heart, and the pain of your loss.

Often, when we are not being distracted, our minds tend to focus on everything that is going on in our personal reservoirs of experience.  We begin to replay episodes that are being stored within our unconscious awareness, as they rise to the surface.  This seems like a common occurrence, as the day drifts off into what should be a peaceful transition into the next realm.

For those who are immersed in deep grief, it is everything but calm.  Your mind spins out of control, and your heart bleeds with sadness, as you replay your grief and watch the emotions bellow out from underneath the substance of what is left of your mental well-being.  Grief is not something we can eliminate from our lives, when we've experienced such torrential pain, but there are ways to manage it.

Being open to learning how to cope will assist you in making those pangs of grief less detrimental to your overall welfare.  Meditation is a helpful resource that will allow your mind to refocus itself towards a more serene break between day and night.  While falling into a slumber, if you are able to redirect your negative thoughts towards a piece of music, or guided script, you will be able to focus your intention on these words or melodies to help you break the pattern of reliving every twist of anguish that grief will conjure up for you.

If you have not worked with meditation as a coping method in the past, there are resources for you to consider and that you can access from the privacy of your home.  Here are some resources to get you started, that will help you ease your suffering.  Click Here For Info
